This project was a remodel of a 1,500 sf home in the Washington Park neighborhood of Denver. The owner chose to remodel the interior of the home making the layout work for their lifestyle without expanding the footprint.

The remodel included a number of structural upgrades that allowed us to remove the interior walls and create a natural open flow between spaces.

The existing addition was remodeled into an away room for television watching.

The two small bedrooms in the upper level were combined to provide a master suite with a bathroom, sitting area and laundry.

In a compact footprint every space must be carefully examined. Here we’ve placed the owners’ desk in a nook behind the entry.

With a plan that did not expand the shell of the home we were able to leave the exterior largely intact making only cosmetic improvements to the front and rear of the home.

Holly Park Community Center – Commerce City, Colorado

The Holly Park Community Center is a community facility and offices for an affordable housing complex in Commerce City, Colorado. It is owned by Mercy Housing Colorado and being looked at as a model for new community centers at other properties.

Holly Park was originally constructed as market rate apartments in the 1970’s. When Mercy took it over it faced problems typical of this type of conversion, a lack of facilities needed for affordable housing. Mercy offers programs to their residents including job training and after school care and these needs had to be handled in a converted apartment. In addition the offices were undersized to handle the increased tenant interaction with staff and the need for clothing and food banks. Finally the on site maintenance was being housed in a variety of sheds.

In order to address these problems, Mercy wanted to raise funds for a community building with new offices and storage spaces. The only way to fund it was private donations and we kicked that off by donating the design of a floor plan and elevation for fund raising purposes. In the end they were able to raise enough money to pay for the project in cash.

One of the biggest challenges was the limited space on the site. With each side of the complex being separately funded their is an internal property line along with the roads and utility lines. The building footprint maxes out the buildable area.

Now that the building is complete it houses their offices, large food and clothing banks, a room that accommodates community functions and after school care, a computer lab and an office for a police liaison officer.

Dickson Residence – Evergreen, Colorado

This mountain home has fire resistant and low maintenance exteriors with an interior design approach akin to the woody craftsmanship that is reminiscent of the East Coast where the Dickson’s are from.

The project took about 8-9 months to construct and went very smoothly. That is due in large part to both the professional management of the contractor as well as Matt and Allison’s diligent work in staying on top of all of the finish decisions they had to make and staying way ahead of the contractor’s schedule for placing orders.

Diamond Office & Retail Building – Evergreen, Colorado

The Diamond Building is a 12,000 sf office and retail building at the entry to Castle Court in Evergreen.

By working directly with the contractor on building material and labor pricing alternatives we were able to add 3,000 sf of leasable office space in the third level that otherwise would have been structure only volume. 25% more leasable space by turning dead space into usable space.

Beardance Village Townhomes – Frisco, Colorado

Beardance Village is a proposed set of townhomes in Frisco Colorado. The design utilizes mountain vernacular styling in keeping with the Town of Frisco design regulations and the client’s desired aesthetic.

Karpov Design Studio – Evergreen, Colorado

The Karpov Design Studio is an office a showroom for an interior finishes company. EVstudio also designed the office/retail building that the studio occupies and the owner’s home.

All Kids Dental Pediatric Dentist – Evergreen, Colorado

All Kids Dental is a pediatric dentist office in Evergreen, Colorado. The client hired a theming consultant to help them achieve their jungle atmosphere. The office occupies the entire top floor of the Tepees Office/Retail building that EVstudio also designed.

Tepees Office & Retail Building – Evergreen, Colorado

The Tepees Office Building is an 11,000 sq.ft. office and retail space. In addition to the building, EVstudio has created the designs for the tenant spaces including a furniture store, a dentist office, a cabinet showroom and a several offices.

The building houses Honka Log Homes who is an important EVstudio client. We have designed dozens of Finnish Honka log structures utilizing a metric system to shop drawing level precision.
